If you find vacuuming your home a tedious chore or never
have the time to do it then a vacuum robot might be for you.
Although there are a couple of other brands of robotic vacuum
cleaner, the most well known is the Roomba series of cleaners
developed by iRobot.
The Roomba vacuum robot range
consists of the 400 through to the 600 series vacuum cleaner.
There is also the Scooba which is used for the washing floors.
And the Dirt Dog that is described as a heavy duty cleaner,
ideal for cleaning garage floors and other utility areas of the
home.
All the Roomba cleaners have a similar look to them. They
are all disk shaped. The dimensions of each model varies
slightly but all stand around 6 inches in height and have a
diameter of around 15 inches.
They can be programed to clean a room (or even a specific
area of the room) at a certain time each day or week. The
Roomba is generally at rest in a docking station that serves to
recharge the batteries. When the cleaning schedule is activated
the Roomba will move to the room and start cleaning using a
system of two rotating brushes. The dirt is sucked into a dirt
pan inside the Roomba body.
The Roomba has various sensors so that it is aware of walls,
stairs and different types of flooring. It can clean wooden
floor, linoleum and carpeted rooms.
Once the cleaning has been completed, the vacuum robot will go
back to it's docking station and recharge the batteries ready
for the next scheduled task.
This robotic vacuum cleaner can make cleaning the floors of
your homes virtually carefree. Once you have set the schedule,
you can forget about the vacuuming. With this said, it is
important that you remove items like light cords or power cords
to appliances like a computer before letting the Roomba loose.
Simply move them above the 6 inches of the appliance and you
should be ok.
Although people do have some teething problems with their
new vacuum robot, most report that the Roomba does the job. It
will clean your home on it's own and even when you are not at
home. It can make housework significantly quicker and
easier.
